Title IX, Athletics & Leadership: The Path to empowering young women

After viewing the film documentary, A Hero for Daisy, which portrayed the women athletes of Yale University on their quest for equality with respect to on-campus athletic facilities under the Title IX umbrella, women of Blazin’ Babes and their daughters heard (via Skype) from Olympic rower, award winning documentary film director and recent guest to The White House, Mary Mazzio. Mary spoke about her passion for leaving law and launching her own independent film production company, 50 Eggs Productions. She also talked to us and our daughters about how her past experiences as an athlete taught her leadership skills, resilience and desire to help those less fortunate through the power of film. It was empowering and touching to heard our daughters ask Mary some powerful questions about her favorite film that she produced, why sports were important to her growing up and what she likes to do for fun!
